Overview
The Master of Information Technology (Cyber Security) complements your current degree, helping you broaden your skill set in the field of cyber security. The course focuses on cyber security and its effects in the modern world. You will explore the impacts of cyber security in course and project work. Your studies will combine theory with practical activities through latest cyber security tools and technologies, giving you the opportunity to confidently network with industry leaders. The program includes modules on risk management, ethical hacking, and effective network engineering principles. Graduates will be well-prepared to tackle complex security challenges in various professional environments. Commonwealth supported places
Commonwealth Supported places are available in this course to students who meet one of the following residency requirements:
(a) be an Australian citizen, who will complete some of your course of study while resident in Australia; or
(b) a New Zealand citizen; or an Australian permanent visa holder; or an eligible former permanent humanitarian visa holder; who studies the entire course while living in Australia.

International tuition fees
The annual tuition fee for full time study in 2026 is AUD $36,440.00. This equates to $4,555.00 per 10 credit point unit (0.125 EFTSL).
These fees are subject to increases annually, effective at the start of each calendar year.

What will I study?
The core units of this program will allow you to explore a range of cyber security concepts. The units will allow you to explore complementary areas of interest through additional coursework units, an industry placement unit or an IT thesis unit.

A candidate must successfully complete units totalling 160 credit points (cp) as detailed below. All units are valued at 10 credit points unless otherwise indicated.

Admission criteria
Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree or equivalent international qualification.
International entry pathway
Applicants who have completed the CDU International Masters Qualifying Program, the Accelerated International Masters Qualifying Program, or the International Masters Preparation Program are eligible for entry.

DOMESTIC STUDENTS
To be eligible for admission to this course, applicants must meet the standard English language proficiency requirements for Higher Education courses at Charles Darwin University (CDU) and provide evidence as part of their application.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
To gain entry into Charles Darwin University, all Higher Education applicants must satisfy the University's English Language Proficiency Requirements for their chosen course of study.
The minimum English language requirement for this course is met by either undertaking previous education from an English-speaking country or undertaking one of the following English language tests and obtaining the minimum requirements listed below.
