Legato Orchestral Experience

We are excited to announce that Legato is on again for 2026. For students aged 10-18 who play an orchestral instrument (including piano and saxophone). Legato will be held from the Monday 28th until Wednesday 30th September at CDU Casuarina Campus and culminate in a showcase concert on the evening of the 30th September. 

The Theme for the 2026 Legato: Celebration

 

At the request of previous participants and tutors, will not be running Advanced workshops. This will allow the students to focus more fully on the exciting orchestral repertoire.

Goals

To bring together the finest young musicians from Darwin and surrounding areas to rehearse and perform together under inspiring leadership.

To offer students opportunities to expand their knowledge of orchestral repertoire through broadly based variations and styles of music.

To augment, enrich, encourage, and enhance students from the Centre for Youth and Community Music as well as local school music programs in the region.

To enable students to experience the elements of a “professional environment”, including competition, responsibility, concert hall performances.

To foster students' interest in music as performers.
