Australian Award Scholarships

Australia Awards scholarships are prestigious international scholarships and fellowships, funded by the Australian Government, offering the next generation of global leaders an opportunity to undertake study, research and professional development.

The award is funded by the Australian Federal Government, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), and includes covering full tuition fees, a living stipend, and travel and study support.

The Australia Awards has successfully been operating for over 70 years and welcomes students from a long list of countries.

Participating Countries and Scholarship Dates

You can find out which participating countries are eligible for Australia Awards Scholarships on the DFAT Australia Awards website. Make sure to check this website first!

Each participating country for Australia Awards scholarships has its own in country office and different opening and closing dates.

How to apply 


Before you apply:

  • Check the opening and closing dates for your country, and select your country of citizenship/residency from the list of participating countries for specific information on eligibility, priority areas and how to apply. See the participating countries page for opening and closing dates.
  • If you intend to apply, you must read the Australia Awards Scholarships Policy Handbook. The handbook provides information including general eligibility requirements, selection processes, entitlements and responsibilities. Note that the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade may revise and update the handbook at any time without notice.
  • Some countries encourage and allow you to apply online while others require hard-copy applications. See your participating country profile for more information

     

Applying online

Refer to your relevant participating country profile for the link to the application portal. The link to applications for those countries can be found in their relevant Country Profile. You will need to apply directly to the relevant program, which will then pass on your application to CDU.

Eligibility requirements and application processes vary throughout the Australia Awards programs. Please visit the Australia Awards website for detailed information about the eligibility criteria and selection process for each program currently on offer.

Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria of the specific scholarship to which they are applying, including English language requirements.
