CDU investments at Casuarina Campus in a boost to facilities
The Casuarina Campus at Charles Darwin University (CDU) will receive vital upgrades as part of CDU’s investment to reinvigorate its campus facilities for students, staff and community.
More than $6.8 million will be invested into building upgrades at Casuarina Campus by 2023 which will see upgrades to research laboratories, outdoor teaching spaces, the library, training buildings and facilities.
Many of the upgrades will also include substantial repairs and upgrades that are needed to security, lighting, building infrastructure, heating, cooling and ventilation and road upgrades.
CDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Scott Bowman said the University was delighted to see the revitalisation of important buildings and facilities on-site at Casuarina to improve facilities and support student learning and experience.
“These campus revitalisation works will support economic development and liveability – and provide the improved facilities that our students need,” Professor Bowman said.
“We have aging infrastructure across our campuses in the Northern Territory that need vital upgrades. This program of works is a part of a broader range of works that need to be completed.”
“We are investing in our campuses with the recent surpluses generated by the University in the last two years now being put back into our facilities for our students.
“This project will see advancement at our campus in Casuarina, ensuring Territorians have an improved place to study and learn.”
Additional investments will include improvements to lighting at the Palmerston campus.
Some of the building upgrade works have commenced and the works are expected to be complete by the end of 2022.
The above works are in addition to major building projects that are happening across the University's campuses.
