Charles Darwin University (CDU) will be on the frontline of training the future generation of submarine specialists after being awarded places to support the AUKUS nuclear-powered submarine pathway.

CDU will be allocated more than $6 million over 2024 to 2030 to deliver 110 Commonwealth supported places in STEM courses to help grow the skilled workforce needed to support Australia’s acquisition of nuclear-powered submarines.

Charles Darwin University (CDU) researchers will investigate ways to grow and retain women working in the Northern Territory’s commercial seafood industry, a sector where worldwide they are significantly underrepresented.

The landmark study aims to understand the various ways in which women have participated in the NT seafood industry, explore barriers for engagement and the factors that might help the industry become more gender inclusive, robust and viable.

A new online fitness program will support the health of ageing residents in the Katherine region while giving Charles Darwin University (CDU) students invaluable placement opportunities.

The Outback Active Program, co-led by CDU and Southern Cross Care (SA, NT & Vic) , and funded by the Northern Territory Primary Health Network (NT PHN), is a new free TeleFit program for people 65 years+ and Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders 50+ years living in the Katherine region.

The façade of Charles Darwin University’s (CDU) new city campus is complete ahead of the wet season, capping off the building’s main protection against Darwin’s tropical heat and humidity.

Standing 40 metres tall, with a combination of vertical and sloping design features, the building includes curtain wall with porcelain tiles, horizontal aluminium louvres, and various types of cladding to reflect the harsh Darwin weather, while ensuring the iconic Boab tree is not overshadowed.
