About the session
The Healthy Environments and Lives (HEAL) Network is a national research initiative that brings together researchers, policymakers, service providers, and communities to address the health impacts of climate and environmental change. Through its Regional Hubs and Communities of Practice, HEAL supports place-based, community-led approaches that connect local priorities with research, policy, and action.
The Northern Territory Communities of Practice (NT CoP) Regional Hub Session will bring together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge holders, community members, researchers, policymakers, and health professionals to explore environmental and climate health priorities across the Northern Territory. Hosted as part of the HEAL 2026 Conference, themed “Time to Listen, Learn and Act for Lasting Impact on Healthy Environments and Lives”, the NT CoP Regional Hub Session will provide a forum for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and community-led action.
The session will showcase the work of the NT CoP in advancing place-based approaches to climate and environmental health, drawing on both Indigenous and Western knowledge systems. Discussions will focus on key priorities including climate-health advocacy, community engagement, sustainable health systems, disaster preparedness, and strengthening local research capacity.
