Overview
This microcredential introduces participants to topics in the maintenance, revitalisation and vitality of non-dominant languages, with a focus on First Nations language contexts. Participants will be provided with theoretical and methodological tools to understand key concepts in language maintenance and revitalisation and to apply them to their respective language contexts. They will consider frameworks and scales that can be used to assess language vitality, as well as learning to identify, review and evaluate maintenance and revitalisation contexts, programs and initiatives, and apply this to their own language, community and professional environments.
This microcredential will be of interest to people working in community language programs and NGOs, education providers, as well as language learners and language advocates, and anyone with an interest in language.
The 6-week microcredential includes a combination of a 1-day F2F/online workshop and self-paced online learning content.

- Discuss macro and micro variables that can influence language maintenance and revitalisation programs and projects
