Overview




This course aims to offer participants a thorough initiation into Power BI, enabling them to establish connections with data sources, convert raw data into valuable insights, and generate interactive reports and dashboards for effective information sharing.

Students will:

  • Develop an understanding of Business Intelligence and its importance
  • Develop foundational knowledge of Power BI 
  • Learn about data connection and transformation skills
  • Learn about data visualisation and basic data modelling
    • Tables
    • Filters and slicers
    • Charts and figures
  • Gain an understanding of data-driven decision making
  • Develop understanding of Collaboration using Power BI Service

Active Learning:

  • Learning will be achieved through guided workshops and tutorials. No previous experience in Business Intelligence is required.

  • Applications for this short course will be open between the 11th March and 12th April 2024.
  • This course will be delivered between 15th April 2024 and 9th June 2024 - two hours per week for eight weeks.

Skill recognition

Credit transfer, or advanced standing, is awarded based on previous relevant studies completed successfully within the past seven years.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process of advanced standing where credit is granted based upon the assessment of a student's prior formal, non-formal and informal learning (or a combination thereof) to determine the extent to which the student has achieved the required learning outcomes of a specified unit.

To apply for credit transfer or RPL, you must apply to study at CDU and submit the relevant supporting documents including:

  • HE113 Application for Exemption Form (PDF, 216.84 KB)
  • Official Academic Record (Academic transcript and award certificates)
  • Unit outlines or syllabus matching time-frame of studies. Unit outlines must be specific to the teaching period in which the unit was undertaken and must include:
    • aims/objectives
    • learning outcomes
    • assessment items
    • resources required and institutional identifiers (web links are not accepted, these must be converted to PDF prior to submission)

Please make sure you submit all the required documents with your application to ensure processing time is reduced.

Applicants must be 16 years old by the Census Date of the relevant admission period and have completed Year 10.
