The five-year Bachelor of Clinical Science Medicine/Doctor of Medicine program aims to produce skilled and dedicated doctors who can excel in the NT's challenging healthcare system. The program focuses heavily on First Nations health, rural and remote medicine and delivering high-quality, team-based care.

You will gain rich hands-on experience through clinical placements across the Territory. You'll also have the opportunity to conduct meaningful community research, guided by expert mentors from Menzies School of Health Research.

This course has sub-quotas available for NT residents, First Nations peoples, and rural and remote applicants. Find out if you are eligible.

Why study medicine?

The CDU Menzies Medical Program is designed for individuals with a  passion for health care and medical sciences, and making a difference to the improved health and lives of Territorians. There are five themes that run throughout the five years of the medical program:

  • Patient care
  • Professional and personal development
  • Health in the community
  • First Nations culture and health
  • The scientific basis of medicine.

The themes provide a holistic approach to learning medicine.

The CDU Menzies Medical Program is a five-year course split into two phases.

The first two years are delivered on campus and the final three years are delivered in a variety of clinical placements.

Graduates of this course will be encouraged to remain in the NT and consider primary healthcare careers, including GP, rural generalist and primary healthcare medicine.

Graduates will also be able to apply for provisional registration and undertake accredited internship training, a required step towards attaining general medical registration in Australia.

Are you eligible to apply?

The Bachelor of Clinical Science Medicine/Doctor of Medicine is a highly competitive course with 40 places in 2026.

This means that although you may meet the minimum entry requirements for the course, you may not be ranked high enough to be invited for an interview or, following interviews, to receive an offer.

This course has sub-quotas available for NT residents, First Nations applicants, and rural and remote applicants. You will also be required to meet admission criteria.
