Sarah Brunton’s journey in the electrical trade began where she was often one of the few women on site. From working in remote camps as the only woman to constantly proving herself in a challenging industry, her experience shaped a deep understanding of the barriers women face and the importance of peer support and strong allies.
With over two decades of hands-on experience, Sarah is now a licensed electrician and serves as the National Technical Officer at the Electrical Trades Union of Australia. She also sits on the NT Electrical Licensing Board. As a founding member of SALT (Supporting and Linking Tradeswomen), she actively supports women and gender-diverse people entering the electrical industry.
In this session, Sarah will speak candidly about what she wishes she’d known when she started her career, sharing insights on the challenges she faced, the progress made, and the ongoing need for support networks and allies in the trades.
