What will I study?
This course structure consists of core units, STEM specialist electives, and elective units, giving you the flexibility to shape your study plan according to your interests and career goals.
Course structure
Build a personalised pathway by choosing specialisations from disciplines such as Science, Engineering, and Information Technology.
This course is structured to ensure fundamental STEM foundations are supported by advanced units appropriate to the discipline area. A distinctive feature of this course is its emphasis on professional practice, offering opportunities to gain hands-on experience and apply your learning in real-world contexts.
If you are studying externally, please be aware that some units require attendance at on-campus intensive teaching blocks. The timing and frequency of these intensives depend upon your selected units.
A candidate must successfully complete units totalling 240 credit points (cp) as detailed below. All units are valued at 10 credit points unless otherwise indicated.

ENT101 and ENT102 have been replaced by ENT103 from 2026.
- Students who have completed both ENT101 and ENT102 should NOT complete ENT103
- Students who have NOT completed either ENT101 or ENT102 should complete the new unit ENT103
- Students who have completed ENT101 prior to 2026 must complete ENT102 in 2026
- Students who have completed ENT102 prior to 2026 must complete ENT101 in 2026

Entry requirements
Admission criteria
Admission requirements are met by one of the following:
- Successful completion of the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (or equivalent) and the awarding of an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of at least 60*.
- Successful completion of a national qualification at Certificate III level or higher.
- Successful completion of at least 0.5 year of full-time study (or equivalent) of a higher education degree/diploma.
- Overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications considered equivalent to the above Australian qualifications.
- Attainment of a STAT Multiple Choice score of 140.
- Successful completion of the Tertiary Enabling Program, the Preparation for Tertiary Success courses, or other recognised tertiary preparation course.
- Submission of an acceptable personal competencies statement and/or employment experience.
- Australian Defence Force (ADF) members with service of 1 year or more at the following ranks (or higher) meet the academic entry requirement for this course:
