Overview
The Graduate Certificate of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control offers an introduction to core concepts and skills in infectious disease prevention and control, including epidemiology, statistical research methods and quantitative analysis of health data. You will explore key public health principles and practices aimed at preventing illness and protecting health in the community. Unique features of the course include learning from acclaimed Menzies School of Health Research researchers and experts in the field.
On completion, you can articulate to the Graduate Diploma and Master of Public Health, or the Graduate Diploma and Master of Health Research.
Please note: this course requires a high level of academic reading and writing.
Students in this course are enrolled in CDU units, as CDU students. Educators from Menzies School of Health Research coordinate and deliver the course.

What will I study?
The Graduate Certificate of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control is a 6 month full-time (full-time study plan only available in semester 2) or 1 year part-time course.
Course structure
The core units (both delivered in semester 2) cover a selection of essential knowledge and skills in epidemiology and biostatistics.
Delivered externally online; some units are offered with an internal option.
A candidate must successfully complete units totalling 40 credit points (cp) as detailed below. All units are valued at 10 credit points unless otherwise indicated.

Admission criteria
Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree, graduate certificate, graduate diploma, master's degree or equivalent international qualification.
International entry pathway
Applicants who have completed the CDU English for Academic Purposes 4 (ZEAP40) or the Accelerated International Masters Qualifying Program (ZAMQP2) are eligible for entry.

To be eligible for admission to this course, applicants must meet the standard English language proficiency requirements for Higher Education courses at Charles Darwin University (CDU) and provide evidence as part of their application.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
To gain entry into Charles Darwin University, all Higher Education applicants must satisfy the University's English Language Proficiency Requirements for their chosen course of study.
The minimum English language requirement for this course is met by either undertaking previous education from an English-speaking country or undertaking one of the following English language tests and obtaining the minimum requirements listed below.
