Overview
Make a difference as a qualified allied health professional in hearing and balance. Our two-year Master of Clinical Audiology degree provides you with the skills and knowledge to assess, and provide rehabilitation for, the hearing and balance systems across the lifespan. Receive specialist training in First Nations ear and hearing health, and be equipped to work in regional, rural, and remote locations across Australia. During our Master of Clinical Audiology degree, you will be required to attend compulsory clinical placements in various health contexts with adults, children, and families.
The course also includes four blocks of 5-day face-to-face compulsory teaching intensives, including work integrated learning and practical experience, at the Casuarina Campus.
Interstate travel may be required to meet your clinical hour requirements. We recognise that you may bring different skills and life experiences, and we welcome a range of backgrounds. There are flexible study options, including part-time, online and face-to-face learning to support you in completing your studies whilst maintaining additional commitments.
Our Master of Clinical Audiology degree offers international study opportunities and welcomes both First Nations and international students with dedicated support services on hand to support you through your degree.
Career opportunities
Many graduates of a Master in Clinical Audiology go on to become clinical audiologists. They work in various healthcare settings, such as hospitals, audiology clinics, ENT practices, or hearing aid centers. Clinical audiologists are involved in diagnosing and treating hearing and balance disorders in patients of all ages. They conduct audiological assessments, provide hearing aid fittings, cochlear implant programming, and offer rehabilitation services.
Practical experience
You will complete a minimum of 50 days of clinical placement - 10 days in Year 1, Semester 2; 20 days in Year 2, Semester 1; and 20 days in Year 2, Semester 2.
Professional recognition
The Master of Clinical Audiology delivered from CDU Casuarina campus is accredited by Audiology Australia. Graduates of this course may apply for membership with Audiology Australia.

International tuition fees
The annual tuition fee for full time study in 2026 is AUD $34,736.00. This equates to $4,342.00 per 10 credit point unit (0.125 EFTSL).
These fees are subject to increases annually, effective at the start of each calendar year.

What will I study?
Our Master of Clinical Audiology comprises 160 credit points. The course covers theoretical and foundational knowledge, diagnostics testing, paediatrics, and rehabilitation, all of which is put into practice through simulations and professional practice experiences. It includes 50 days of clinical audiology practice in multidisciplinary health contexts with adults, children, and families.
Course structure
A candidate must successfully complete units totalling 160 credit points (cp) as detailed below. All units are valued at 10 credit points unless otherwise indicated.
Note: Face-to-face compulsory intensive information
The course includes four blocks of 5-day face-to-face compulsory teaching intensives. Some units are co-taught in the same intensive block.
- Face-to-face compulsory intensive block 1: AUD501 and AUD502
- Face-to-face compulsory intensive block 2: AUD503, AUD504, AUD505 and AUD511
- Face-to-face compulsory intensive block 3: AUD515 and AUD514**
- Face-to-face compulsory intensive block 4: AUD523 and AUD524**

Entry requirements
Quota
There is no restriction on places for domestic students. Please note that this course accepts a limited number of international students each year. This means that meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee a place in the course.
Admission criteria
Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree or equivalent international qualification with at least a pass average (GPA of 4.00).
Essential requirements
If you are undertaking a course with work integrated learning you must demonstrate compliance with the following checks and requirements. It is your responsibility to ensure that the correct documentation is obtained prior to commencing placements. A national and/or international Police check and a current Working with Children check is required regarding suitability to undertake placements. The majority of health facilities will require students to present a complete immunisation schedule, and a First Aid certificate.

DOMESTIC STUDENTS
To be eligible for admission to this course, applicants must meet the standard English language proficiency requirements for Higher Education courses at Charles Darwin University (CDU) and provide evidence as part of their application.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
To gain entry into Charles Darwin University, all Higher Education applicants must satisfy the University's English Language Proficiency Requirements for their chosen course of study.
The minimum English language requirement for this course is met by either undertaking previous education in an English-speaking country or undertaking one of the following English language tests and obtaining the minimum requirements listed below.
