Respect Matters Online Training

The Respect Matters online training is compulsory for all CDU students and staff and is delivered via Learnline.

Student training consists of 4 modules covering:

  • Understanding gender-based violence and its impact
  • Consent, respect and healthy relationships
  • Supporting others and the bystander response
  • Addressing social drivers, discrimination and cultural factors

Each module concludes with a short quiz designed to reinforce your learning. You must achieve 80% or higher to pass each quiz, and the learning content must be completed before the quiz becomes available.

The training takes approximately 90 minutes to complete; however, some participants may require more time. You can view your grade for each quiz and the overall grade in the Grade Centre of the unit.

We strongly encourage you to complete the training as early as possible to build your understanding of respect, safety and shared responsibility within the CDU community.

Respect Matters training must be completed annually, and if you do not complete the training within this time frame, your grades may be withheld.

We recognise that some of the material in this training may feel confronting or triggering. If you find it difficult to complete, the Safer Communities team can offer additional support and also delivers workshops each semester, providing a group environment where participants can work through the content together.

If you or someone you know is currently experiencing violence, or have experienced violence, you can access support through the CDU Safer Communities team.

Safer Communities is a free, confidential service for students that delivers initiatives aimed at preventing violence and provides support to those who have experienced violence. This team runs events, online campaigns, and educational sessions year-round on how we can be better together to create a safer CDU culture and community

We encourage all staff and students to report violence or any situation that makes you feel unsafe, whether it occurs on or off campus, including in your personal life. Sharing your experience with CDU Safer Communities can help you access support, advice, and guidance in navigating your chosen next steps. You can share your experience with CDU by making a Safety and Support disclosure

To learn more about respect and safety on campus, please visit the CDU Safer Communities webpage.
