Aspire Scholarships

The Aspire Program aims to break down financial barriers to education.

School scholarships

Senior secondary school students who participate in all aspects of the Aspire Program are eligible for up to $1,000 per annum in Year 11 and Year 12.

Students may use their funds toward any of the following:

  • School and tuition fees
  • Course-related materials/textbooks
  • School uniforms or safety equipment for classes
  • Educational equipment hire, purchase or repairs such as laptops, iPads, tablets, calculators or software
  • Year 12 formal ticket and/or jumper
  • Face-to-face tutoring
  • Fees for UMAT exams, practice tests or UMAT preparation
  • University application fees
  • School excursions, camps or trips
  • Travel for educational forums/workshops or CDU events.
  • Study materials, including a study desk or chair

Maintaining the Aspire scholarship

  • Maintain satisfactory school commitment for the duration of the scholarship
  • Attend Aspire events and participate in Aspire activities
  • Year 11 and 12 students are to provide receipts for products/ services purchased with Aspire scholarship money 
  • Meet the ongoing requirements of the Aspire program

Ongoing requirements

  • It is the responsibility of the scholarship recipient and the senior school to advise CDU regarding any changes to the scholarship recipient's circumstances that could affect their ongoing eligibility*
  • If the scholarship recipient does not meet the ongoing scholarship requirements, CDU will issue a warning letter after being notified by the participating school. The student will be provided with one academic term to fulfil all the eligibility requirements. If the student is unable to meet these requirements, the scholarship will be terminated.

*Possible circumstances that could result in the scholarship's termination may include the student moving interstate, overseas or to another school; serious misconduct by the student; inability to maintain the participation and attendance results required. When a student moves to another school partnered with Team Aspire, a scholarship transfer may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

University scholarships

Team Aspire University Scholarship

The Team Aspire Scholarship is to assist the transition to university, provide support for the first two years of higher education studies and enable a successful university experience. The Team Aspire Scholarship provides financial support to students who have been part of CDU’s Aspire program in senior secondary school and are enrolled in a bachelor’s degree at Charles Darwin University. The scholarship is worth $10,000 over 2 years; $5,000 in the first year, then $2,500 per semester in Semester 1 and 2 of the subsequent year.

In addition to financial support, students will also receive holistic support from the Student Engagement team including counselling, academic support, assistance with accommodation, and career advice. Successful applicants are expected to check-in with Team Aspire in the start, middle and end of every semester.

Ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria of this scholarship before applying.

  • Must have actively participated in and graduated from the CDU Aspire Program
  • Must be a student commencing their first bachelor's degree with CDU in the scholarship application period
  • Must be enrolled in the first year of a bachelor's degree
  • Must be enrolled full-time for the duration of the scholarship - i.e. enrolled in 30 credit points or more in the current semester
