Fahad Alumni

Fahad arrived in Darwin from Bangladesh with the goal of building on his accounting skills and starting his career in the corporate world. Thanks to Charles Darwin University, he’s successfully achieved both.

“During my last semester of university, I was enrolled in a workshop organised by CDU Careers Centre and KPMG,” he says. “The workshop was open to all disciplines, which is a really good thing, and I pretty much excelled in that particular workshop.”

Consequently, Fahad was offered a job.

"After the workshop I got selected for my graduate role in KPMG Darwin where I currently work as a consultant in the advisory team,” says Fahad.

Opportunities for all

Fahad is thankful to CDU for what he has achieved and the opportunities he has had. He knows that other students feel the same way.

“Two of my wonderful colleagues are CDU alumni who graduated just one or two semesters before me,” says Fahad. “They work with me in KPMG in different teams, so in terms of employment opportunities, CDU has much to offer for international students.”

Social life

While studying, there are multiple ways for students to socialise, explore and enjoy the local area.

“The local Casuarina Square is where lots of the students come to shop and hang out,” says Fahad. “It’s only a few minutes’ drive from the university and has a range of amazing restaurants with amazing food. There’s also a great gym for working out.”

Similarly, Unilodge is a great space to hang out.

“If you want to stay at Unilodge, they’ve got a great communal room, or you can enjoy all the indoor activities they have there, like an indoor pool, indoor ping pong and some arcade games.”

Living the life

When it’s time to escape for some downtime, Fahad heads to one of his favourite spots.

“My wife and I regularly go to East Point beach for a walk and to watch the beautiful sunset,” he says. “It’s so close to the city, which is just a wonderful place to be.

If you have a set of goals, I would say come down and explore the opportunities, enjoy the tropical weather and enjoy the territory vibe.”
