Charles Darwin University’s distinctive “new world” branding campaign has been named winner of gold and silver at the prestigious Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards to be presented in Japan.

CDU won gold in the Innovation in Re-Branding category, and silver in the Innovation in Brand Development category.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Simon Maddocks said the Stevies acknowledged CDU as one of few Australian universities to push the boundaries in creating a unique campaign with limited funding.

“This is high praise we share with our creative partner the Leap Agency, which helped us develop the campaign, and reward for our marketing team that implemented it,” Professor Maddocks said.

“It is particularly rewarding to have received external, impartial recognition considering that organisers received more than 700 nominations this year.”

Professor Maddocks said the new world university campaign reflected CDU’s vision as a socially and globally conscious university that seeks to use knowledge to shape a better future.

“It has helped distinguish us from others in a highly competitive higher education sector; it has resulted in increased engagement within CDU and a steady growth in applications from future students.”

Professor Maddocks said the Stevies were regarded as one of the world’s premier business awards, recognising innovation in the workplace, among the 22 nations of the Asia-Pacific.

The awards will be presented in Tokyo on 2 June.
