Love secrets to be revealed at #CDUODay
The scientific secrets affecting relationships, such as where a person chooses to sit, the aromas that waft through the air or the colour of clothes, will be revealed at Charles Darwin University this month.
The “16 Scientific Secrets to Love and Relationships” talk by psychology lecturers will be on the Open Day program at Casuarina campus on Sunday, 20 August.
Senior lecturer Dr Simon Moss said the talk would share tips that people could use to foster close, trusting and supportive relationships with partners, friends, colleagues and even bosses.
“We hope that revealing these secrets – as well as tips on revitalising relationships and friendships – will enable people to feel excited and hopeful about their romantic, platonic and professional relationships,” he said.
Open Day will feature interactive displays, talks and tours packed with information on the higher education and Vocational Education and Training courses CDU offers, along with entertainment, including children’s band “Lah Lah” and the Upai Purri dancers.
Digging dirt with a one-tonne mini excavator and the sirens on the “Beat The Heat” road safety police racing car will keep kids busy, while a new state-of-the-art dynamometer, or “dyno”, will be on show to the public for the first time.
Automotive and Civil acting team leader Bruce Kimm said the dyno, which helps automotive students gain skills in advanced diagnostics, fine-tuning engines for maximum economy and performance, would be a big drawcard.
“It is enclosed in a raw classroom and testing facility for various vehicle sizes to ensure safety and control of noise generation. We will spin it up for about 10 minutes each hour during Open Day and will supply ear plugs on-site for visitors,” he said.
