Daniel Bressington

Professor Daniel Bressington

Professor Dan Bressington is a Professor in Mental Health at the Faculty of Health. He is also an Adjunct Professor at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Hong Kong) and La Trobe University (Melbourne). He previously worked at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Institute of Psychiatry (King's College London) and Canterbury Christ Church University (UK).

Dan is a UK registered Mental Health Nurse with over 20 years of experience, he publishes extensively and is an active journal editor and reviewer. He has around 100 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and is Associate Editor for Frontiers Public Mental Health (specialty section of Frontiers in Psychiatry). He is also is an Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, BMC Psychiatry, British Journal of Mental Health Nursing and Nursing Reports (MDPI).

His research interests include multimorbidity in people with severe mental illness, developing/testing psychosocial interventions to improve mental health and mental health literacy/stigma. He has been awarded AUD 3 million in research grant funds (AUD650,000 as principal/co-principal investigator). His research outputs were submitted as individual outputs and as part of impact case studies in the UK Research Excellence Framework exercise (2014) and the Hong Kong 2020 Research Assessment Exercise.
