When Samina arrived in Darwin from Nepal, she was excited to start studying a Bachelor of Accounting at CDU. Her success after graduating speaks for itself.

Landing a dream role

During her last semester Samina attended a CDU networking event where she was offered a graduate placement at KPMG. She now works as an Advisor within their Business and Tax Advisory Department.

“I’d highly recommend going to networking events and taking advantage of the graduate placement opportunities and career support offered by CDU,” says Samina.

“Building connections with as many people as possible will help you get opportunities to start a career quickly in the industry that you want.”

Samina is experiencing that firsthand.

“It’s been exciting to work with different CDU alumni,” she says. “We grow together every day, and it's been a nice journey to see students landing the dream career they wanted.”

City vibes

Samina has settled into Darwin life quickly.

“People here are really welcoming and nice, but the thing I like most about Darwin is the decent amount of time that I have to spend with my family,” says Samina.

“During my spare time I usually go for a walk at East Point, which has beautiful sunset views and a cool breeze. I also play table tennis at Waterfront, which is a great place to relax or go to the gym and workout.”

Bright futures

So, what advice does Samina have for others considering studying in Darwin?

“If you want to make a big difference in a small place, then Darwin is where you should be, especially for fresh grads like me,” she says. “If you want to start your career, just pack a bag and move on here.”
