Support CDU's Dangudbila team to the Indigenous Nationals

Charles Darwin University (CDU) took home the trophy in the basketball final at the 2023 Indigenous Nationals games held at Monash University in Melbourne.

Help CDU's Dangudbila team to the Indigenous Nationals

For the third year in a row, CDU will be sending a team of First Nations students to represent at the 2024 Indigenous Nationals games being held at the University of Wollongong in June 2024. First Nations students from universities across Australia will verse each other in four core sports – touch football, netball, basketball, and volleyball.

CDU took out the championship in Basketball in 2023 and is hoping to build on last year’s success.

CDU is currently fundraising $35,000 to send students to Wollongong to participate – including the cost of the travel, meals, accommodation and apparel for students.

The sporting event is an inclusive and welcoming experience for First Nations students across different university degree disciplines and stages of study.

"The Indigenous Nationals gives First Nations CDU students the chance to develop their teamwork, athletic and networking skills" - Professor Reuben Bolt, Deputy Vice-Chancellor First Nations Leadership, CDU

CDU’s team is called Dangudbila, the Larrakia word for Kangaroo, which represents the team’s journey as they move forward and build strong connections and create pathways for future students.
