Would you like midwifery care in a local clinic? 

Our midwifery students are directly supervised by experienced endorsed midwives, who have extensive expertise in providing care through pre- and post-birth.

Our midwifery students are directly supervised by experienced endorsed midwives, who have extensive expertise in providing care through pre- and post-birth.

 

What do we offer?

Routine care:

  • All your antenatal and postnatal appointments 
  • Ordering and review of relevant blood tests and ultrasounds during your pregnancy  
  • Information sharing 
  • Preparation for childbirth and parenting 
  • Long appointments to meet your needs

Complex care:

If you are experiencing complexities in your pregnancy, such as gestational diabetes, the midwife will:

  • Consult, refer to and work with your doctors. 
  • Provide coordinated care alongside your medical team
Note: You can still attend the student-led clinic to complement your care.

 

Benefits of a Student-Led Clinic

With your consent, the midwifery student will also:

  • Accompany you to appointments at the CDU Health Hub Student-Led Midwifery Clinic 
  • Offer extra support to you during your pregnancy 
  • Be a familiar face offering additional support during your labour and the birth of your baby

     

How to book your appointment:

Program details

Duration: First Tuesday of February – last Tuesday of November 

Clinic hours: Tuesday: 9 am-3 pm 

Location: CDU Health Hub, Casuarina Campus Building Green 5 (off Lakeside Drive) 

Delivered by: Midwifery students supervised by an experienced registered endorsed midwife 

Fees:  

  • Bulk billed for women planning to give birth at Royal Darwin Hospital with a Medicare Card 
  • $35 per appointment for women without a Medicare card
Note: This program is not suitable for women birthing outside the Royal Darwin Hospital
