Toni McCallum

Toni is a published poet and short story writer using lived experience to create fictional characters who tell their visceral and embodied stories of abuse. She also works in queer and intersectional spaces to ensure the diversity of survivor voices are heard. Toni researches in trauma-informed schools in the NT developing early intervention services to enhance children's self-regulation.

Research Interests:

  • Lived experience of domestic and family violence, particularly coercive control
  • Story telling for healing after abuse
  • Queer theory, feminist postmodern theory and intersectionality in telling women's stories
  • Ethnography
  • Trauma-informed teaching
