Hailing from Katherine, Alina decided to stay in the Territory and study at CDU. While studying she found a passion for helping others. After Starting her own student group, she eventually moved into a Student Group Project Officer role with Charles Darwin University.

The Northern Territory’s citrus industry came under attack in 2018 from a highly
contagious bacterial disease called citrus canker. CDU chemists, Dr Hao Wang and Dr Vinuthaa Murthy won a contract to develop a scent profile and synthesise artificial scent lures for the detection of the disease
