Our research and capacity building activities engage with countries and communities to our north to ensure a global perspective and contribution to our region. 

Academic Centre for Cyber Security and Innovation

The NT Academic Centre for Cyber Security and Innovation (ACCI) is a multi-disciplinary research centre in Cyber Security, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. The centre develops innovative, high-quality research, and scholarship that are renowned for excellence and impact. ACCI work closely with industry partners and universities to stay at the forefront of innovation and to address the most pressing challenges facing society today.

Advanced Manufacturing Alliance

Through collaboration, the Advanced Manufacturing Alliance (AMA) engage with industry partners, trades and academics to:

  • develop real-world applications
  • create industry procedures and standards
  • drive material development

Energy and Resources Institute

The Energy and Resources Institute (ERI) provides high quality research and consultancy for all aspects of energy and resources, including engineering, scientific, economic, environmental, social, community, legal, policy and digital considerations.

North Australia Centre for Autonomous Systems

The North Australia Centre for Autonomous Systems (NACAS) conducts integrated industry-focused research into the application of Autonomous Systems across industries, businesses, and other sectors in northern Australia and the Asia Pacific regions. 

Research Institute for Environment and Livelihoods

The Research Institute for the Environment and Livelihoods (RIEL) is a leader in tropical savanna and coastal research in north Australia. Research strengths include biodiversity conservation, savanna and arid adaptation and environments, water and catchments, and communities and livelihoods.  

RIEL works with our partners in northern Australia and our near neighbours to ensure sustainable management of resources and these unique ecosystems.

RIEL’s ‘livelihoods approach’ explores the co-existence between people and country, while recognising the services provided by a healthy environment.
