Faculty of Science and Technology

Learning, teaching and engagement

Take advantage of CDU's professional links in engineering, IT and the environment.

We engage with industry and the broader community in various ways. We encourage our students to take up opportunities to gain skills through work experience and recognise excellent work practices through our annual prize-giving.

CDU Radicle Centre for STEM Engagement

Radicle is the scientific name given to the first root that appears when a seed germinates. It represents the core aims of our Centre to unleash the potential of our youth, and to increase the reach of Science and Technology to each and every child in the Territory. The Radicle Centre is a STEM hub and a supporting body to the many STEM professionals, students and outreach providers based in the Northern Territory. The Centre also hosts the annual Radicle Science Awards NT, celebrating Territory excellence in science endeavours.

Reflecting the concept of extending its roots, Radicle’s reach extends beyond this Centre to schools, rural and remote communities.

Prize Giving

Our prize giving ceremony occurs at the end of Semester 1 every year. The ceremony recognises the outstanding performance of our students in their academic programs in the previous calendar year.

Many of our prizes have been donated by generous local and national businesses and organisations to encourage students in their field of study. Sponsors, students, families, alumni and other community partners are invited to take part in celebrations.

Engineering Careers Fair

Around 100 students of different engineering disciplines attend the Engineering Careers Fair each year, focused on future employment opportunities in the region. The Careers Fair is attended by local industry with graduate programs and employment opportunities for graduates.

IT Code Fair

Each year CDU hosts the IT Code Fair. The event aims to encourage and support our students' talents as well as showcase their work to university, industry communities and future employers.

As part of the Code Fair, we celebrate the International Hour of Code with code hour workshops at secondary schools.
