You are invited to join us for this seminar about using two-way knowledge systems to protect and manage sea country.
Dr Rachel Groom will present her research on sea country with First Nations groups, governments and industry across northern Australia. She will share insights into critical findings that underpin policy shifts, natural resource management and engagement with First Nations peoples.
The research discussed will include Projects under the National Environmental Science Program, Blue Carbon, Protected Areas, and others.
More about the speaker
Dr Rachel Groom has lived and worked in Northern Australia for over 20 years. She has worked as an Environment Manager and marine scientist with the NT government and in a Research Fellowship role with the Northern Institute and the Australian Institute of Marine Science.
Dr Groom has a Professional Doctorate in marine resource management and has developed a proficient understanding of marine estate matters and environmental and indigenous policy, including Sea Country planning and meaningful program development with Indigenous groups, such as the Larrakia, Anindilyakwa, Li-Anthawirriyarra, Crocodile Islands, Dhimurru and Thamarrurr Rangers in the NT.
