Join us for the launch of the very first Social Capital Index for the Northern Territory. Find out what it is and how it helps measure our NT communities' well-being.
CDU, in partnership with the Northern Territory Government, will present results from the My Territory Connections survey to provide insights into the strength of our social capital and how it might differ between population groups and across regions.

About the Project:
For the past two years, Demographers at the Northern Institute have been undertaking a research project in partnership with the NT Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet (DCMC) to address data gaps identified in the NT Social Outcomes Framework.
Underpinning the research was a large survey of Territory residents, “my Territory Connections”. Results from the survey provide information on how well Territorians are connected to their neighbourhoods and communities and whether they have the resources and people they can rely on in times of need.
The NT’s Social Capital Index (constructed from the survey data) forms part of the commitment by the Northern Territory Government and its partners (including non-government organisations and the community) to report on measures of progress towards a broad, aspirational vision for the future of the Territory - “All Territory individuals, families and communities are inclusive, healthy, safe, resilient and thriving.”
The Northern Territory Government intends to update the Index regularly so we can describe change and track progress over time.
