Welcome back to your study

CDU has reviewed its academic organisational structure to better support our new world university aspirations - to be outward looking, regionally engaged, develop strong Indigenous leadership, and deliver transformative skills and learning and high-impact research when and where they are needed.

To promote quality learning and teaching, we've consolidated our Higher Education academic areas from Schools and Faculties into six Colleges to take advantage of disciplinary collaborations and provide more support and resources for students' experience. We've reorganised our Education and Student Success area into two portfolios that sit alongside our academic Colleges to sharpen our focus on student experience, quality and growth: the Education Strategy, and Student Engagement and Success portfolios.

Most of your study resources and contacts will not change. Your lecturers and academic staff will continue to teach in the relevant subject areas, and your academic timetable will not change. Student Central, Equity Services, Academic Language and Learning Success Program (ALLSP), the Complaints Management Unit and Student Advocacy will continue to provide the same services and support.

Changes that will take place at or after 1 February include:

  • The Academic Liaison Unit will become incorporated into Student Central. To access support provided by the former ALU, contact student.central@cdu.edu.au. We look to expand services into student engagement and retention activities within the next 6-12 months.
  • We are in the process of appointing and locating or relocating Deans, academic leaders and professional staff for Colleges. Telephone, email, office locations, signage and wayfinding details for general College enquiries will change as we create professional 'hubs' for Colleges at Casuarina campus and the Darwin Waterfront campus. Contact Student Central or watch for an Announcement on the CDU homepage for details.
  • CDU Library Services will continue to provide the same support and resources. Details of the Liaison Librarians who can assist you with subject-specific referencing and library resources will be updated to reflect their affiliation with the new Colleges - check the Library website at the beginning of Semester 1.
  • Minor updates to the Learnline banners of units and modules will occur in time for Semester 1 2018.
  • College websites will gradually replace existing Higher Education School and Faculty websites.

We value your participation and invite you to submit feedback on the change to YourSay@cdu.edu.au.

We wish your every success in this year's studies.

Yours sincerely

Anthony Hornby
