Student Advocacy

A Student Advocacy Officer has been appointed by CDU Amenities Limited to provide student advocacy. This service provides free, confidential and independent support for Charles Darwin University Higher Education students.

The main purpose of this position is to advocate on behalf of Higher Education students and to provide appropriate, accurate and timely advice in regards to advocacy matters.

The Student Advocacy Officer offers assistance on an individual basis by representing the student in areas that impact on the quality of their experience whilst studying at Charles Darwin University. Students are encouraged to utilise this service if issues arise and they are unsure of the avenues to take when attempting to resolve these issues.

The Student Advocacy Officer liaises closely with the Complaint Management Unit, Student Administration and Equity Services and the combined Faculty Academic Liaison Unit to ensure all students receive appropriate assistance leading to a positive outcome. This may involve discussing any matters related to a student’s admission, enrolment and progression at the University. This is an on-going process that will ensure that the advice and assistance provided is up-to-date and relevant to each individual student.

As their first-point-of-call, students can contact the Student Advocacy Officer if they are struggling with issues that they have been unable to resolve themselves. Working in collaboration with all parties involved, the Student Advocacy Officer will participate and consult with relevant academic or administrative staff on issues raised by the student.
