All investigators and permit holders are required to attend Animal Ethics Training once every three years. CDU offers animal ethics training free of charge for investigators and animal carers associated with projects and for others by negotiation.
In line with social distancing measures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are not holding face-to-face Animal Ethics Training until further notice.
Please note that while online animal ethics training is available, new project and permit applications will only be approved where all investigators have completed the training. We therefore encourage you to complete the training well ahead of time
We have arranged a recorded version of Animal Ethics Training, which will temporarily replace the face-to-face format. In order to access the training please complete the registration form below. Once we receive the registration form you will receive the link to the training with the further details.
Face-to-face Animal Ethics Training will be reinstated in late 2020/early 2021.
While it is preferable for investigators to attend animal ethics training provided by CDU, the AEC may also accept equivalent training delivered by another institution or organisation. In these circumstances, proof of training attendance is required.
If you require skills competency training for specific animal-related procedures, please contact the Animal Welfare Officer for advice.
The Animal Welfare Officer may also be available on request to deliver training in the use of Schedule 4 and Schedule 8 drugs.
(*Note: For those Investigators who undertook training prior to 1 January 2020, renewal of your animal ethics training is required within two years of your previous training and within three years thereafter.)
For further information about the training please contact the Research Ethics Team at email@example.com
